Get yourself to Scotland and then head for the Highlands! Fort Augustus village is on the A82 half away along the Great Glen. (Inverness - 33 miles / Fort William - 31 miles). From the Fort Augustus petrol station, turn north towards Inverness, go past the car park and then left up the steep hill called Bunoich Brae, we are just on the left where you will see our sign.

Glen Way Way Loch Ness

The Great Glen Way

We are located directly on this popular long-distance path making us a great Glen Way hostel option. The path spans 73 miles/117km between Fort William and Inverness and can be walked in 5-6 days. It can also be combined with the West Highland way to form a classic trek from Glasgow to Inverness. For more information and route feedback, check out Walkhighlands.

How to Get Here

From the canal or bus stop in the centre of the village turn North and walk past the main car park, take the first left up Bunoich Brae and you will find us at the top of the brae on the left hand side – only a couple of minutes’ walk from the centre of the village! We have plenty free parking but on very busy nights, there is additional public parking just beyond the hostel and village hall.

The closest train stations are Inverness, Spean Bridge and Fort William. From all of these destinations you will need to take a coach or alternative transport to Fort Augustus. There is only one bus stop in the centre of the village by the petrol station, from there follow the By foot, bike or car directions. You can plan your train and onwards transport in advance using Traveline

Scottish Citylink and Stagecoach both provide an excellent, reliable bus service through Fort Augustus. There are regular buses between Fort Augustus and Inverness, Fort William and the Isle of Skye. We would recommend you book your bus journey in advance as it can get busy and it is also cheaper than buying a ticket on the day. You can use Traveline to plan your bus journey.

The closest airport is Inverness Airport which is approximately one hour away from Fort Augustus by car or alternatively, the airport is well-connected via public transport to Inverness and beyond. At Inverness Airport, you can connect to various UK and International destinations. For more information, check out Inverness Airport website.
